Building Notice
DISCOVER THE POSSIBILITIES

What is a Building Notice?

A Building Notice application removes the need to deposit detailed plans before building work is started (this is separate from planning permission). This type of application is compliant with building regulations; however, it may alter the payment procedure to the council.

Building regulations require that 2 days notice (48 hours) is given to the Building Control Department prior to any building work commencing.

Any proposed building work should be discussed (on site preferably) beforehand to minimise or prevent unnecessary or non-compliant work being done.

A Building Surveyor from the council will need to be notified at various stages of the work to allowing inspections to be carried out.

Obtaining Building Regulations approval in advance if often a preferred route as it allows more time for the council to look at the drawings and check that the work is compliant with the building regulations before it starts.
